A spirited performance by Panasonic
27 Mar 2006
Four luxlift devices from Panasonic Electric Works have been supplied to the Dundee Baptist Church to provide easy and safe access to special luminaires that have been installed at the church.
As with any high-ceiling lighting application, the main considerations have to be safety and ease of maintenance of the luminaires. By using the Luxlift, the church avoids the need to erect scaffolding for re-lamping and cleaning the luminaires. Instead, the fittings are secured to the Luxlift's electric lift mechanism, enabling them to be lowered and raised from ground level. This arrangement is also in keeping with CDM (Construction, Design and Management) regulations, which require designers to allow for safe, low cost maintenance of an installation.
The installation also takes advantage of Luxlift's 2-circuit design (4 circuits are also available) by using one circuit for mains power to the fitting and the other for dimming control.
The Luxlifts are remotely controlled and are used with four specially manufactured luminaires that use PL-C lamps with dimmable control gear. Three of the fittings are suspended above the centre of the church and the fourth is over a balcony.
